Universitas Padjadjaran’s Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fakultas Peternakan, or Fapet) was pioneered by Prof. Dr. Didi Atmadilaga. On July 27, 1963, the faculty was established with the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and the Sciences no. 86/63. The faculty was then officially founded on September 1, 1963. Fapet first conducted its teaching and administrative processes at a number of locations in Bandung, including the Unpad Fapet Campus at Dago which was in use since 1969. In 1986, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry became one of the first Unpad faculties to entirely relocate to its current campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang.

The students and faculty members have gained numerous achievements at national and international levels. Fapet’s alumni are spread in many institutions and businesses, both in public and private sectors, pursuing various fields including (but not limited to) entrepreneurship, agribusiness, banking, education, as well as research and career development. The Faculty’s works of research have been published in many national and international journals, presented in national and international seminars, and adopted by various industries. Some of the products have obtained Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

Fapet continuously aims to improve the quality of the animal husbandry sector, and human resources, in West Java. In terms of community services, the Faculty has been organizing mentoring sessions, counseling, as well as corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs for the local community, farmers, and stakeholders. Fapet strives to become a faculty committed to excellence and environmental friendliness in the science and technologies of animal husbandry.
